Since opening its doors in 1969, The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) lived through the history and path of Korean modern arts, and has settled down as a leading culture space in Korea. MMCA opened four branches: Gwacheon in 1986, Deoksugung in 1998, Seoul in 2013 and Cheongju in 2018. Four branches work separately yet as one, contributing to the development of Korean art culture and spreading the joy of enjoying arts in daily lives.
Surrounded by beautiful nature, MMCA Gwacheon presents exhibitions and collections focusing on various genres of visual arts, including painting, sculpture, photography and architecture. MMCA Deoksugung shows Korean and foreign modern arts that lie within the history. MMCA Seoul introduces contemporary art encompassing various genres. MMCA Cheongju was transformed from a former tobacco factory and recreated as the center of local art and culture, reinforcing the function of artwork collection and preservation. We hope you will have a rich feeling from the harmony of life and art.
